As far as Ric was concerned, this very much counted as her in his lap. He
waited for her to settle, then responded to her nuzzling by lifting a hand
to very lightly, gently, stroke his fingers over her fur. Trying to be
soothing and reassuring, rather than anything else. Barely there, really,
since she hurt.
