Ric was... happy. Being able to sleep with Hayley -and really just sleep, god knew the sex wasn't lacking- even with Damon acting as a guard dog, had been good for him. No new bodies turning up, not missing chunks of time, those were pretty good, too. They weren't quite enough for him to let his guard completely down, but he didn't think there was going to be a whole lot of sleeping going on tonight, anyway.

And if there was, well, tonight Hayley would be even more equipped to play guard dog and take care of him. Elijah's reassurance helped keep that one metaphorical and mildly amusing.

He dumped the last load of camping gear onto the ground, and looked up at the sky to check the weather. "I don't think we're going to have to worry about being rained on tonight, but we should probably set up the tent." Who knew what tomorrow would bring,and it would be easier to relax somewhere enclosed. And limit bugs.

Damon laughing was always good, and made Ric smile a little, though he definitely eyed Hayley's legs when she stretched them out. "We'd have a lot less fun if we didn't...." Planning and schedules or not.

Hayley grinned at him. "That's certainly true."

Damon tsked. "Could we not get in to the age difference thing?"

What with his impending date with Elijah.

Ric frowned a bit at Damon, and lifted his eyebrows. "Not used to being the young and relative inexperienced one?"

"I'll go with young--but take back the inexperienced bit!" Damon protested.

"Sweetheart," Ric drawled. "This is Elijah. He's been around long enough to have invented sex acts you haven't even dreamed about."

Hayley nodded. "My advice? Enjoy and learn..."

Damon gave them both an aggrieved look. "Remind me why I brought you two coffee and donuts?"

"Because we're your friends, Damon." Was there another answer to that? No. But the reminder, and even the plurality seemed like a very good thing to put out there.

Hayley looked surprised, then pleased, to be included in that.

Damon felt a warm little glow at it, sure, though he rolled his eyes--not quite hiding the smile. "And that comes with constant teasing?"

"Hey. I'm just following the rules you set. If we went by the ones I set, it'd be more violence." He smiled, too. Not hiding it, not subdued, just smiling. "Bacon's ready."

Damon made a face at him, not commenting. It was...weird in a good way, this back and forth with them. New, but...he liked it. "Bacon is good..."

Hayley did not at all whimper and want to take more of it. She really would wait until they got what they wanted.

Ric laughed and moved the cooler with his foot, to a place they could all reach it, and set the paper plate (of bacon) on top of it. "We should do this more often...."

"We should," Hayley agreed, eagerly, though whether that was for the idea or the bacon, who knew?

"Preferably not on a full moon," Damon offered as a caveat. "Though we'll need a second tent."

"...Are you going to bring Elijah?" Ric asked, with complete confusion. He couldn't really see Elijah camping.

"...No?" Damon said, equally confused. "I mean it might be nice of me to ask him or whatever, but I don't really see him embracing the wilderness..."

"...Then why would we need two tents?" They'd slept together before!

Damon finally grinned. "Well, I was trying to give you at least the semblance of privacy in case you wanted to actually have sex out here one night instead of play fetch."

Hayley choked on her coffee.

"You totally missed the middle aged thing, didn't you? The only sex I'm having out here will not be happening in a tent. No matter what, my back or knees would die." He didn't even miss a beat.

Hayley gave him a look. "There are ways of working around that..."

"Clearly he needs a bit more imagination," Damon agreed.

"...IN the tent?" he asked, because yeah. Maybe lacking imagination, but he had nothing.

"Well, if you think out of it will be easier than in, I want to know what you're thinking?" Hayley gave him a bemused look, thinking how very easy it would have been to just...shift a bit earlier and be having it, before Damon showed up.

Ric was mostly thinking that sleeping in the tent had done enough of a number on his back, without adding exertion, but he was also eyeing Hayley. "Standing up or bending over."

Damon looked like he wanted popcorn, but stayed quiet.

"Okay...yeah, that works, but...it doesn't have to be bed breaking either," she pointed out. "All you would've needed to do this morning was...lose the jeans and snuggle closer..."

"Could work," he agreed. Though he was pretty sure he'd still prefer more padding for it. On the other hand - "Still doesn't mean we can't get out of the tent or refrain for a few hours, for Damon's sake. Sticking him in a separate tent, two feet away just seems pointlessly mean. Not like he's not hearing it all, anyway...."

Hayley arched an eyebrow. "It was his suggestion, not mine, so not sure that can qualify as mean. I was just pointing out sex in the tent didn't have to be painful..."

Damon nodded easily enough. "I can hear you from my room, you realize. That doesn't mean it's the same as stretching out in the window seat in Hayley's room..."

"I'm not sure I can not qualify it as mean, no matter who suggested it...." He frowned. "Come to think of it, it might be more mean because he suggested it. Damon's odd, you'll get used to it." Maybe. To Damon he said: "I know. And I'm just pointing out that we're not incapable of some restraint or leaving the tent."
