Ric had stepped into the shower pretty tired. The heat and relaxation that came from the shower and just being close to Damon was doing a number on his head. So, his first response to Damon's question was an 'eloquent': "Um."

He blinked a few times, putting the soap back and hanging the cloth over the shower curtain rod. Having to explain a bite mark to Elena was still something he wanted to avoid, and he really didn't want Damon to come under fire from... unfortunately just about everyone, if he turned up with a bite mark that stayed and demanded an explanation.

He also didn't want Damon to feel like he was being hidden, or a dirty little secret. Though, honestly, the whole 'you're a guy' thing added a layer for Ric, however much it didn't matter at all to him right now.
