Ric was... happy. Being able to sleep with Hayley -and really just sleep, god knew the sex wasn't lacking- even with Damon acting as a guard dog, had been good for him. No new bodies turning up, not missing chunks of time, those were pretty good, too. They weren't quite enough for him to let his guard completely down, but he didn't think there was going to be a whole lot of sleeping going on tonight, anyway.

And if there was, well, tonight Hayley would be even more equipped to play guard dog and take care of him. Elijah's reassurance helped keep that one metaphorical and mildly amusing.

He dumped the last load of camping gear onto the ground, and looked up at the sky to check the weather. "I don't think we're going to have to worry about being rained on tonight, but we should probably set up the tent." Who knew what tomorrow would bring,and it would be easier to relax somewhere enclosed. And limit bugs.

She smirked a little at him. "There was some suggestion last evening that never got followed through on..." Bending her over something, specifically.

Damon shook his head. "Well, that's just sad."

Not that he knew for certain what they were talking about, but he could guess.

Ric remembered, grinned at her and started to say something, but then turned to look at Damon with a downright bewildered expression. "What's just sad?"

"That there was no follow-through," Damon said with a smirk.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you... but I'm a middle aged, human guy with a job, and seeing someone who also has a job. Time and stamina are both limited. There's got to be some pretty disappointingly unromantic planning involved."

Hayley blinked and then chuckled, giving him a teasing smile before glancing at Damon.

"I fail at planning, so that's all on him..."

"I'll work on it!" He was laughing, though.

Hayley smirked. "I'm looking forward to that..."

Damon glanced between them. "I'd say that's my cue to leave, but I brought coffee--I still want bacon."

"That's all right. I don't think we have anything the right height here, anyway, and I'd be lying if I tried to pretend not to have a headache." He was grinning, though. And speaking of bacon - he moved, to drag it out of the pan, just at the right pointy of crispy, but where a second or two more would have been too much.

Hayley chuckled and shook her head a little. Letting Damon and Ric get bacon first, she took what was left. "Well, that's going to need to be eradicated..."

Damon laughed. "This is what you get for dating a younger woman...and wolf..."

"I've had coffee. I'm eating and having orange juice. We'll be fine by the time we get out of the woods." Damon laughing just earned him an eyeroll, but he was grinning. "The trade off's worth it."

"Good answer," Hayley said, giving him a grin before delicately licking her fingers clean of the grease from the quickly gone bacon.

"I see what you mean," Damon murmured, watching her.

"I try..."

Ric started to hold the bacon out, but stopped to give Damon a Look. "See what I mean all you want, okay? But keep it to seeing."

Hayley arched an eyebrow at Damon, who gave her an innocent smile before he glanced at Ric.

"Of course..."

"Good boy." He grinned and winked when he said it, though. "There are things I don't want to have to compete with."

"I am a little irresistible," Damon agreed.

"You are?" Hayley asked, highly doubtful.

"You just said I was hot not fifteen minutes ago!" Damon gave her an aggrieved look.

"Yeah, well. So's Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages, but I'm not hooking up with him, either."

"...in all fairness, Tom Cruise is nuts. Damon's... usually sane?" Not that he wanted to encourage any hooking up going on, but! It needed said.

Hayley stuck her tongue out at him. "I was trying to make a point, and 'I would never hook up with Brad Pitt' was not something I could say with a straight face."

Not that she would cheat on Ric with anyone, even Brad Pitt, but. The point being that Damon was resistible. Or, at least, not on her fantasy list.

That made Ric laugh, mostly with delight. "If you ever get a chance to hook up with Brad Pitt, I want stories." He was now considering, appropriately or not, which celebrities he actually would sleep with.

And coming up weirdly short.

She grinned a bit. "Does that mean I get a pass should the opportunity for a threesome with him and Angelina arise?"

Damon snorted. "I think the pope gets a pass if an opportunity for a threesome with him and Angelina arises."

"You can all have my pass. Maybe it'll improve your odds." He wrinkled his nose, just a little. "Angelina is not my idea of hot."

Hayley and Damon both stared at him like he might've lost his mind.

"Uh...what?" Damon asked, still staring.

Ric held one hand out in a sort of truncated shrug, lifted his eyebrows a touch and smiled a bit. "Sorry. She's just not."

"What's your idea of hot?" Hayley asked, a little warily. Granted, she knew she was not really Angelina-type. Not really Jennifer, either, she supposed. Between the two...well. Probably more Angelina with the rebel edge and more...obscurely dark past she wasn't all that adjusted to.

He gave her the slightest bit of a disbelieving look. "You." Because, honestly, was there any other answer anyone sane would give? Ever?

He got a slightly narrow look from her on that one, because--gratifying as it was, it didn't really answer what was wrong with Angelina.

Damon snorted, amused. "At least the headache isn't making you say things you'll regret..."
