He'd hesitated, but he'd actually, eventually, bucked up and called Elijah to see if there was any news about the cave. He wasn't sure why, except that it seemed like such a nice, relatively non-threatening distraction.

Better than alcohol and vampire slaying, anyway.

Then he'd invited Elijah over to his place for a drink and to update him, before maybe (hopefully) going out and getting Elijah in there to look around. He understood that even less. Except... Elijah's company had been really, really easy. Kind of weird! But easy.

He missed easy.

Not that kind of easy. Just... close to comfortable, and pleasant.

He met Elijah with the door, handed him a glass of bourbon and stepped back to let him in.

"Any luck?" he asked, as he gestured Elijah toward the living room.

If Elijah had been planning a coherent response to the comment about the arsenal, it flew out of his head with the first drag of Ric's fingers around his cock. He'd been so focused on the other man, neglecting touching himself, that Ric's fingers set off fireworks beneath his skin.

His hips arched, pressing up into Ric's fingers, back against him, up again. Sliding his fingers, he curled them around Ric's wrist, but didn't tug him away, didn't try and stop or guide him.

Elijah had epic control when it came to lasting a while if needed, but he'd been aching a little since the first kiss. Ric's touch was electrifying, and his hips rocked slowly with the strokes. Elijah's hips rolled in time with Ric's strokes, and he tilted his head with a shudder at the nip. That...most certainly worked, dragged a moan from his lips. The faster strokes had him gasping, his fingers stroking over Ric's hips, then holding on, then stroking again.

Ric smiled a little against the back of Elijah's neck, and kept his face down. The stroking hand kept him reasonably calm, and he was still very much caught up in relaxation, afterglow, and a sense of accomplishment. He kept on holding on as the trembling started to ease. "That was incredible...."

Elijah chuckled a little, still breathless, and wriggled enough to turn over in Ric's arms and face him. His fingers pressed lightly over Ric's heart, tracing meaningless patterns on skin. "It was," he agreed.

Ric looked a little surprised when Elijah turned over to face him, then slowly smiled. He was still so, so confused, but riding high on having the touch and accomplishment and given something back and just the orgasm that it didn't seem to matter a lot. Ric physically reacted, just a little, to the hand coming back up to his throat. It made his breath catch, and his pulse skip a beat, something a little wary flicker in his eyes, but it was all only there for a split second. It didn't even make him stop smiling. Just... physical memory. Apparently necks were good handholds, or something.

"Probably going to make myself sound like a stereotype... But I think everyone needs that, sometimes." Though he was still being awfully affectionate with Elijah. Which was not unrelated to sex, actually. It might even be most of what he was talking about. Maybe.

Elijah's fingers were gentle on Ric's throat, not pulling back sharply even when he felt the catch and skip. Ric relaxed, and Elijah kept stroking lightly, fingers moving back around to massage the back of Ric's neck idly. He couldn't help wanting to touch him there, so if this was going to continue, he wanted Ric used to it, finding good associations for it.

Of course, it very well might not continue, but. If it did...so, he didn't stop touching, just smiled a little back, and enjoyed the affection.

"Not a stereotype," Elijah said quietly. "I think you're probably quite right. And it's something I forget fairly often."

Ric would work through it, in time, and Elijah carrying on was both the exactly right way to make that happen, and the best thing he could do for Ric's pride. It let him have the reaction, and move on from it at his own pace, rather than trying to choke it back or force it through, too fast. It was literally perfect for him.

He brushed his thumb across Elijah's cheekbone, definitely affectionate and, fuck, he didn't know if it was going to happen again, but... He hoped so. This was the most relaxed, clear, and focused he'd been in too long. Elijah had given back at least as much as he'd gotten, probably more. That alone formed a connection, for Ric. Not quite gratitude, or anything that simple or insulting, just - affection and maybe the start of understanding.

"How long did you forget, this time?"

Elijah kept touching, would probably keep it up as long as Ric did, reluctant to pull away from the warmth and connection underneath his skin. The question tugged a wry smile to his lips.

"A while."

Embarrassing to admit just how long.

"That may be why I decided you were... asexual." he said, with a gentle smile. He had no intention of stopping, yet. He was almost afraid of letting the moment end and going back to... reality, really. He sighed, softly. "You were being effectively celibate."

"Probably," Elijah said, with a wry smile. "It hasn't really been a priority in a while." He'd had a family to avenge, he thought, and now, one to try and fix. Sex...wasn't something that had been really even much on his radar. He'd been angry--he hadn't hunted in the more pleasant, but the more vicious ways.

"I think you might have managed to scare even me off, if it had been a priority...." Ironically, he could imagine all the predatory nature channeled toward sex and it was. Sort of terrifying.

A question in there, maybe, implicit, about a one time thing or something that might be repeated, with his own...indication of willingness to do it again, sometime. But also a bit teasing.

Ric suspected that if he allowed this to become a regular thing, he was very quickly going to end up over his head. Not that it mattered to him. He'd rather be drowning and floundering in this, than in grief and anger, and despair. He also liked the idea of being able to give that back to Elijah. Hell, he just liked Elijah.

"Now that you've been reminded, I hope it doesn't take you a 'while' to do it again." Unsteady, heart racing a little, but not at all unhappy.

Elijah watched him carefully, reading the heartbeat and the warmth still in his eyes, and smiling a little bit more. When he leaned in to kiss Ric, it might have been a touch tentative, still, but it was warm and real, at the same time.

"I don't think you have to worry about that..."

Ric met the kiss with warmth and affection, and a sense of relief, almost. He even sighed, just a bit and very briefly. "I'm not worried.... But I'm glad." He kept his eyes closed and actually curled much, much tighter in around Elijah, close as he could be and holding on tightly.

If Elijah was a little surprised by the continued affection, even more so by the holding on, still, he didn't show. He wasn't, at all, adverse to it, after all. Shifting a bit so he could settle more closely against Ric, he wrapped his arms around him more snugly.

"Good," he murmured. "That makes things less awkward..." If Ric had been not-glad, that would have been not-good, after all.
